thanks for stopping by!
I'm Kartiki. I was born in Mumbai, India to some pretty otherworldly, creative, and crazy cool set of parents. Both worked jobs which required our family to travel all the time: my mother one of the very few women leading in the Indian Consulate, my father a visionary leading in several companies thought to be pioneers in the supply chain industry. So you see, I was lucky this way. I probably couldn't have had more open-minded parents (I'm talking Indian parents here) and work travel opened up avenues of learning about the world.
I have read about and seen how many of us find a sense of adventure, serenity, boundless possibility in travel - and I definitely relate. You don't know what the next step may bring you, you don't know where your life may land next. There is an excitement in being spontaneous because we place no limits on our minds or surroundings - anything is possible.
For me, travel has been all of that and something more. This "more" is rooted in my love for history. History of man, of the earth, of time. Each place I see, I wonder: who was here before I was? What happened here? Why did it happen? What did it look like at first? Is it important? Will it last? So each place I encounter, I wonder all of these things and more. It allows me to truly remember a place for its own identity.
Through this space, I hope to share with you all, my fellow traveler, some of my favorite destinations, some tiebacks to historical moments & probably some inspired poetry here and there.
xx
